The buildings were stunning and it was so educational to learn about Miami's development. Jennifer was a fantastic tour guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about her city. She even brought in a personal connection to one of the beautiful hotels.
James came to Miami in 1995. He was able to give us the history of the area long before he got there, and what he has seen in almost the past 30 years of development in South Beach.
It was great learning about the history of the area, plus the architecture and the vibe from the celebrities gangsters, and the US military taking it over in World War II.
At the very end, James directed us to go have a cocktail in the lobby of the international hotel just north of Lincoln. It was really really cool. Thanks James for a great tour and will be coming back more to South Beach to soak it all in.
The Art Deco tour was great, we learned so much and were taken into beautiful hotels to see Art Deco details that we would never have seen on our own. Went into places where movies had been filmed, never knew Miami Beach was such a popular movie backdrop, only thought of Miami Vice, 🤣🤣 Would recommend this tour and if you can get the same guide, even better, she was definitely 5-star material. James is a superb guide. He clearly loves the Art Deco District and passes his enthusiasm on to his clients. His knowledge of the district is encyclopaedic - whether history or design - and his sharing of the smallest details adds depth to what could have been superficial and rote. I'm now looking for diamonds everywhere I walk! The tour moved quickly so we were able to see many of the district's highlights in the two hours allotted. The small group format enabled us to visit small hotel lobbies, which contained many hidden gems. I highly recommend this tour and especially this guide.
The Art Deco tour in Miami exceeded our expectations. Janinha, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and entertained all questions. This was a highlight of our trip to Miami. The streets of Miami were sparkling with lights (photo below) and there was a wealth of information in each of the hotels visited where we were well received. We highly recommend this tour through Secret Tours, and the guide Janinha if you are fortunate enough to have her tour.
South Beach Art Deco Tour is a MUST while visiting South Beach. It is so much more than just learning about architecture. James is a wonderful and engaging guide that tells the history of South Beach and how its history influenced architecture over the years. Prior to walking around, he gives tips on how to spot this style of design and discusses characteristics and fun facts of historic events and people that influenced changes over the years. He is very passionate and with his entertaining stories, keeps you yearning to learn more. Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it!
